Here’s my list of the seven books I read in 2023 with comments on each one:

Get the Girl: How to Be the Kind of Man the Kind of Woman You Want to Marry Would Want to Marry by Douglas Wilson

This is a must read for any single man desiring to pursue a woman. Upon finishing it, I immediately ordered a copy for each of my adult sons. Excellent book on the topic.

The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin

Seth Godin is one of my favorite thinkers in the creative/business space. I really enjoyed this book. Every time I read it, I got so excited to go do great things and create great stuff.

Masculine Christianity by Zachary Garris

This is a very well written, thought-provoking book on the topic of men’s and women’s roles. I didn’t agree with everything (as with most books) but found most of the book a helpful contribution to the topic. There is a lot of really good content in this book.

The Death of Porn: Men of Integrity Building a World of Nobility by Ray Ortlund

I really appreciate that he tackled the topic. It’s a topic that needs to be tackled way more. The style and approach he came from wasn’t my favorite, but I thought it to be a fatherly word from a seasoned older man, with overall good content.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ by Paul Washer

This is a decent little booklet on the gospel.

The New City Catechism Devotional: God’s Truth for Our Hearts and Minds by Various Authors

I read through this catechism to my kids for our weekly devotional times. I thought it was an overall good catechism. It had a good mix of living and dead guys. There is also a free app with the same content.

The Masculinity Manifesto: How a Man Establishes Influence, Credibility and Authority by Ryan Michler

There were a handful of good nuggets in this book.

Why Ministers Must Be Men: A Brief Survey of the Roles of Men and Women in the Church by Douglas Wilson

Although I completely agree that pastors/elders must be men, I disagreed with some of the practicals of how things get fleshed out.
